Two Detentions Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

Two more people have been arrested related to a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after a probe into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and were later released.

Officers detained a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were called at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several people injured by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The attack - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
